We work to support Avondale community children and families.

Gabriel’s Place inhabits the former Episcopal church, St. Michaels of All Angels, at 3618 Reading Road in Avondale.

Born in 2008 from a partnership between the Episcopal Diocese, Avondale Community Council, Hamilton County Community Action Agency, Children’s Hospital Medical Center for Closing the Health Gap and other key neighborhood partners, Gabriel’s Place has become an essential part of the community development and health network in the neighborhood.

The primary goals of Gabriel’s Place involve addressing food insecurity and building a beloved community in our Avondale neighborhood.  We at Gabriel’s Place believe that we need to be a healthy food resource and safe fellowship space for our neighbors to help reclaim health, self, and a sense of shared community.  We also work to empower urban youth to achieve their highest potential.

Our programs include:

  • Community meals and catering services which provide healthy & thoughtfully designed meals. We have a staff chef who prepares food and also provides cooking classes to youth and adults.
  • Gardening education and other programs which promote environmental sustainability and healthy nutrition through our ¼ acre onsite garden. These programs are designed for all members of the community including youth and adults, seniors, and those with special needs.
  • Multi-purpose spaces for the community to gather and enjoy including our community garden and dining/event halls, shared office space and more.
